A few years ago, I was lucky to have a few email exchanges with Etel Adnan, whose work I admire. Shortly after seeing her paintings at a show called Journey to Mount Tamalpais at the SFMOMA, I decided to incorporate the spirit of Mount Tamalpais into my designs.
Once I was asked in front of a television camera: “Who is the most important person you ever met?” and I remember answering: “A mountain.” I thus discovered that Tamalpais was at the very center of my being. Etel Adnan.
